All About the Scottish Fold 📖
Scottish Fold cats have a natural genetic mutation that causes their ears to fold forward and downward, giving their round faces an unforgettably cute, owl-like appearance. They are wonderfully adaptable cats who are happy in busy homes or quiet ones, and they get along well with almost everyone they meet. Scottish Folds love to sit in funny positions — including sitting upright like a little human!
Scottish Folds were first discovered in 1961 on a farm in Scotland, when a farmer noticed a kitten with strange folded ears among a normal litter. That special kitten, named Susie, became the mother of the entire Scottish Fold breed!
These cats are known for their love of sitting in what owners call the “Buddha position” — sitting up on their back legs with their belly out, looking completely ridiculous and adorable. Scottish Folds are gentle, quiet cats who rarely cause trouble, and they tend to form especially strong bonds with one special person in the family.
