All About the Burmese 📖
Burmese cats are often called 'velcro cats' because they stick to their humans like glue! They have the most silky-smooth coats you've ever touched and they absolutely LOVE people. Burmese cats were originally temple cats in Burma (now Myanmar) and were treated like royalty. They are one of the longest-living cat breeds and often reach 18 or even 20 years old!
Burmese cats come from Myanmar, a country in Southeast Asia, where they were considered sacred animals kept in temples and palaces. When they were first brought to the Western world in the 1930s, people were amazed by how friendly and dog-like they were.
Unlike many cats that like to stay independent, Burmese cats want to be involved in EVERYTHING you do. They will follow you from room to room, sit on your homework, and curl up on your lap the moment you sit down. They even love meeting strangers — making them perfect for families who have lots of visitors!
Burmese cats come in several gorgeous colors including rich sable brown (the most classic), a warm champagne color, cool blue-grey, and silvery platinum. No matter the color, their coat is always incredibly shiny and soft — like petting a little piece of silk. If you want a cat who will be your best friend for life (and maybe even live to 20!), a Burmese is a fantastic choice.
